Drawing attention to the association of Sebastea with St John the Baptist and the prophets Elisha and Obadiah, Pope Alexander III confirms for Radulphus Sebastensis episcopus and his church the papal protection granted by Pope Innocent II and the church’s possessions in France, granted by many individuals, including King Louis VII, his son Philip and Elisabeth ducissa, whose husband Willelmus Goetus [158] died in Sebastea.
