Mar. 17. Lateran. Pope Innocent III rebukes the patriarch of Antioch for following the example of his predecessor, who had translated the archbishop of Mamistra [Mamistanum] to the archbishopric of Tarsus [Tharsenensis]. The patriarch had translated La[uranetius], the archbishop-elect of Apamea, previously confirmed as bishop of Valenia, to the diocese of Tripoli. Stressing the rights of the papacy in such matters, Innocent quashes the translation, also revokes the translation to Tarsus and suspends the right of the patriarch to confirm the appointment of bishops.
