*Summer. King Aimery of Jerusalem appeals for assistance to Pope Innocent III, who refers to his emissaries in letters to the kings of France and England [c. Dec. 15-20 1199]. Perhaps in response to the pope’s request for information, Aimery has reported the lack of manpower in the Latin East, but has added that quarrels amongst the Sarraceni could lead to a Christian recovery.
