Writing to the archbishop of Milan, Pope Gregory IX states that he has received detailed reports from the patriarch of Jerusalem, the magistri of the Knights Templar and the Hospital of St John and other leaders, contradicting the descriptions of the truce with the Muslims given by the emperor Frederick II and the magister of the hospital of St Mary of the Germans.
