May 5. Lateran. Informed by the patriarch of Antioch that the abbas and monks of the Cistercian monastery of Jubin had fabricated documents pretending that the abbey was exempt from the payment of all tithes, whereas a previous patriarch had freed them only from certain tithes, Pope Gregory IX orders the bishops of Acre and Sidon and the archidiaconus Acconensis to compel the abbey to pay the tithes.
