Sept. 6. Anagni. Pope Gregory IX authorizes the patriarch of Antioch, the papal legate, to absolve pilgrims or crusaders, whose lives may be in danger, but who have been excommunicated for using violence against clergy, provided the crimes are not too severe and provided the individuals are not subject to the jurisdiction of the patriarch of Jerusalem.
