Mar. 2. Lateran. The patriarch of Jerusalem, the papal legate, has asked for licence to translate the bishop of Paphos to the archbishopric of Nazareth. The bishop fell ill at Paphos and is anyway ignorant of the language and rites of the Greci, who make up the population of his diocese. Pope Gregory IX agrees to the patriarch’s request.
