January 16. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the master and brothers of the Teutonic Order of Jerusalem, relating that he decided to transfer to the Templars their former [Grand] Master Gerhard von Malberg (Gerardus de Malberch), who could not remain in their order without a serious scandal. Happily relieved of this case, with their ties to the pope and their good name, the Teutonics shall have whatever they can, secure in the faith that the pope loves their order and shall ensure their prosperity in the future.
