June 24. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the noble man [Balian of Ibelin] lord of Beirut, bailiff of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, responding to his request by placing under the protection of St Peter his person, brothers, wife, children, household, lands and other goods.
