June 1-30. Nicosia. John of Ibelin (Johanni d’Ibelin) count of Jaffa and lord of Ramla records under seal that he has sold 4 gardens at Nicosia to Eustorge de Montaigut (Estorge), archbishop of Nicosia for 2,500 white besants. To the east of the gardens are the gardens of the lord of Beirut and of the royal domain [maini], to the south is the garden of [the abbey of] Notre Dame de Sur, to the west is the verger attached to the vendor’s ostel, and to the north is the garden of Sire Iohan le Moine. The archbishop is free to sell the gardens to whomsoever he wishes. If for some reason the vendor cannot guarantee this sale, he is bound to return the sale price, drawing on all his resources in Cyprus, except for the desme.
