July 12. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the [patriarch-]elect of Antioch [Opizo Fieschi], relating that he wishes to favour the ecclesiastical career of a student, Raniero son of Guglielmo Scotti, a Genoese citizen, who is devoted to the pope, and he orders the addressee to have Raniero accepted as a canon and brother in a church in the patriarchate of Antioch or of Jerusalem, except in the cathedral church of Antioch, and to be assigned a prebend, if vacant, or as soon as possible, various obstacles notwithstanding.
