May 25. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the patriarch of Jerusalem and papal legate (Robert de Nantes), relating that he has learned that when the Pisans and many others dock their ships at Acre they dare to fly the flag of former emperor F[rederick II] and put it in the churches during ceremonies, to the danger to their souls and the scandal of many. The pope orders the addressee to prohibit this completely, forcing with ecclesiastical censure the aforesaid and others to desist henceforth, invoking the secular arm for this if necessary.
