May 25. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the patriarch of Jerusalem and papal legate (Robert de Nantes), relating that he has learned that some religious and others in the city of Acre dare to rent their houses to public prostitutes, causing many scandals and endangering souls. The pope orders the addressee to force these people and others to stop this completely and the prostitutes to leave those places, warning them first, without appeal.
