June 22. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV announces the legation of the [cardinal-]bishop of Tusculum (Frascati) (Eudes de Châteauroux) to the patriarch of Jerusalem (Robert de Nantes) and the archbishops, bishops, masters and brothers of the Temple, the Hospital and of St Mary of the Teutonic Knights in Jerusalem, as well as to the other prelates of churches and members of every order in the Kingdoms of Jerusalem, Armenia and Cyprus. The pope orders the addressees to receive cheerfully, treat honourably and obey humbly the legate, observing the statutes he enacts for the state and the benefit of the Holy Land and the salvation of souls. Otherwise the pope will enforce the legate’s sentences against rebels.
