March 18. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the Commune of Marseille (Massiliense), relating that he has great affection for them because of their past and future services. Inclined by their entreaties, the pope confirms and strengthens insofar as they concern the addressees the liberties that King Henry of Cyprus granted to them and the men of Montpellier (Montispesulani) and other Provençals (Prouinciales) in common, with some conditions reserved for him and his heirs, as is more fully contained in the privilege written in the French language, which the pope inserts verbatim.
