After October 17. Brother William of Chastel Neuf (Frater Guillelmus de Castro) Novo sanctae domus Hospitalis Jerusalem magister humilis et pauperum Christi custos informs Frater Gualterus de Sancto Martino praedicator that at the intervention of the king of France he and 30 of his brothers, together with many other religious and secular men, were freed from captivity by the Egyptians and reached Acre on 17 October. A major dispute has arisen between the sultans of Egypt and Aleppo, from which the Christians may take advantage when military help arrives from Europe.
