May 7. Lateran. Pope Alexander IV writes to Bishop Paulus of Paphos (Paphensis), conceding him permission to install as canons in his church two suitable priests who are prepared to reside there in person and to provide them with prebends if any are vacant at present, or as soon as they become vacant, notwithstanding the statute about a fixed number of canons strengthened by oath or by confirmation of the Apostolic See, or any papal indulgence preventing this.
