March 25. Anagni. Since there have been failures on the part of prelates to pay the annual census due to the Holy See, Pope Alexander IV orders Cosmas canonicus Anconitanus, subdiaconus papae, to travel out to the Levant (partes ultramarini) and to collect personally the census that is owed to the papacy, enforcing his requests for payment with ecclesiastical sanctions.
