text:
Jan. 10. Lateran. Writing to Petrus prior and the canons of the Holy Sepulchre, Pope Celestine II notes that King Fulk of Jerusalem and Queen Melisende wished to establish a monastery for professed men or women in the church of Sanctus Lazarus at Bethania and were supported in their appeal to the Holy See by Patriarch William of Jerusalem and his hierarchy. Pope Celestine assents to this and confirms the gift to the Holy Sepulchre of the casale of Thecua by King Fulk in exchange for casalia surrendered by the canons to provide a living for the community at St Lazarus.
