Apr. 24. Jerusalem. Amalric, per gratiam dei in sancta civitate Ierusalem rex quintus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to benefit, among others, the soul of his brother King Baldwin III. He gives the leprosary of St Lazarus, the cloister of which is close to the city of Jerusalem, 1 slave out of his share when he gains 10 or more on every military campaign or raid [expeditio sive equitatus] in which he is present or in which his banner [vexillum] is displayed in his absence, provided the slave is not a miles. Witnesses: Domnus Radulfus cancellarius regis et episcopus Bethlemita; Fredericus Tyrensis archiepiscopus; Vmfredus constabularius regis; Philippus de Neapoli; Baldwinus de Insula; Rogerius de Monbrai; Hugo de Cesarea; Odo de Sancto Amando; Robertus de Monteforti; Willelmus marescallus; Girardus de Pogi; Petrus de Cresech; Otto de Rimbec. The charter was drawn up by Stephanus, acting on behalf of Radulfus Bethlemite episcopus regisque cancellarius.
