Sept. 24 - Nov. 9. Jaffa. Baldwin, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex sextus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant. He confirms the gift made by King Amalric as a reward for service to Guillelmus Louellus of the chaplaincy of the royal chapels of the Holy Cross and of St Laurence in the castle of Jaffa, to be held for life in assisia. The annual income provided for Guillelmus is specified as: 30 besants, payable in three instalments, and 24 modii of wheat. In addition he receives 9 denarii a week, to meet the cost of oil and wax to illuminate [the relic of] the Holy Cross and 2 candles, 1 besant at each of the feasts of Easter, the Exaltation of the Cross and Christmas, and [the proceeds of] parochial rights within the castle. And he has an honoured place at their table whenever the lord or lady [domnus vel domna] resides in the castle. Witnesses: Gaufridus de Blois Ioppensis decanus; Rohardus castellanus Ierusalem; Henricus castellanus in Ioppen; Petrus de Creseca; Gauterus Malpini; Rannulfus dapifer. The charter was drawn up by Lambertus regis capellanus.
