Jul. 13. Viterbo. Eugenius III confirms for Petrus prior and the canons of the Holy Sepulchre the gifts of his predecessors Calixtus II, Honorius II and Innocent II, and the gifts made by Duke Godfrey, King Baldwin I and Patriarch Arnulf, and other benefactors. He refers to their right to live under the Augustinian Rule, takes them under papal protection and lists the following properties: in the bishopric of Bethlehem the casale of Thecua, given by King Fulk; the castle [castrum] of Mahumeria with its church; in the diocese of Caesarea castrum Feniculi with its church; in the city of Jaffa the church of St Peter; in the city of Tyre the church of Sancta Maria antiqua sedes; the casale of Sancta Erina in the diocese of Tyre; the castle [castrum] of Gith; in the diocese of Tripoli the church of the Holy Sepulchre on Mont Pèlerin, the church of Sanctus Georgius in Montanis and the villa called Biuora, given in exchange for Megina; together with properties in southern Italy and Provence. Pope Eugenius confirms the freedom of the canons to elect the patriarch.
