May 13. Bourges. At the request of Doge Vitalis and the citizens of Venice, Pope Alexander III confirms for Leonardus procurator operis of the church of St Mark in Venice its possessions: the church of St Mark in Tyre, with houses, bakery [pistrinum], oven, platea and ruga, fields and lands; the church of St Mark in Acre with bakery [pistrinum], oven, platea and ruga, which stretches from the mansio that had belonged to Petrus Zannus to the monastery of St Demetrius, as given by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem in return for Venetian assistance in the conquest of Sidon; all lands conceded to Venice by the king of Jerusalem in the cities of Jerusalem, Tripoli, Antioch and Haifa. He confirms all Venice’s possessions in general.
