Summer. King Amalric of Jerusalem appeals to Pope Alexander III, who on 23 Dec. writes to Archbishop Henry of Reims, expatiating on the dangers to the Holy Land, threatened from all sides, and the damage done by the quarrel between the king of England and his son, and commending to him the emissaries from the East, the bishop of Lydda and the subprior of the Holy Sepulchre.
