January 17. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the master and brothers of the Teutonic Order of Jerusalem, relating that, although the Templars, Hospitaller and Teutonic Knights do not allow transfers from one order to another for any reason and force those who leave to return to the same house, nevertheless, considering the problematic presence of the former [Grand] Master Gerhard von Malberg (Malberch) in the Teutonic Order, the pope orders his transfer to the Templars, although no other brother shall dare to follow his example in the future.
