January 25. Lyons. Pope Innocent IV writes to the patriarch of Jerusalem and papal legate (Robert de Nantes), relating that the abbot and monks of the Greek monastery of St Margaret of Agros, of the Order of St Basil, in the Nicosia diocese, explained to him in an extensive petition that they frequently suffer serious harassment from certain people from the Nicosia and Limassol dioceses. The pope commands the patriarch not to allow anyone to trouble unduly, and contrary to their privilege of papal protection, the monks’ persons, rights, goods, monastery, and grange of St Mary of ‘Stilo’ on Cape ‘Cavata’, restraining molesters with ecclesiastical censure without appeal. Valid for three years.
