B[ali]anus [Ne]apolitanus domnus, with the agreement of King Baldwin IV [and] his brother, pledges his assisia of 1000 besants at Ascalon, which he holds of Sibylla Ioppes et Ascalonę comitissa, to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem for 2 years, until the Hospitallers have gained 2000 besants from the assisia. With the agreement of his brother domnus Balduinus Ramatensis, Balianus domnus Neapolis atque Ybelini and his wife Queen Maria, confrater and consoror of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, make a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, under the government of Rogerius de Molendinis magister and frater Garnerius preceptor magnus, and in the presence of frater Garinus de Belna and frater Alexander. They give 2 carrucate terre before the city of Ramla. text: Early in year - Sept. 23. At the request of Iohannes abbas and all the convent of the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat, Balianus Neapolis atque Ybelis dominus, with the agreement of the lady queen his wife, records under seal that he ordered a drawing of the boundaries of the land of Ascar and the land of the mountain above Ascar, the latter being in the lordship of Nablus, and he mandated Bernardus Pelliparius, Guido raitz and Guido de Ascar to investigate. These burgenses went to the site and put boundary marks [metae et bunnae] marked with crosses to indicate the boundaries.
