text: *mid. Jun. – early Jul. Jaffa. Godfrey of Bouillon reaches agreement with the Venetian fleet. In return for service from 24 Jun. to 15 Aug. the Venetians will receive a church, a market place [platea convenientia ad forum] and immunity from dues on commerce in every city by the sea or inland that the Franks [Francigenae] have taken or will take. The spoil, gathered from every city which is taken jointly, will be divided, with one-third going to the Venetians and two-thirds to the Franks [Francigenae]. If Tripoli should fall, the spoil shall be equally divided with half going to St Mark, unless the Venetians surrender part to Jerusalem each year in recognition of its sanctity.
