Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex octavus, with the agreement of his wife the lady Sibylla, eiusdem regni venerabilis regina, confirms under seal the gift to comes Ioscelinus, his senescalcus, of Toronum and Castrum Nouum with their villani, gastinae and lands, and also Belinas, when it will be recaptured. Ioscelinus will owe the same servicium to the crown as domnus Henfredus constabularius used to render. Guy confirms the gift of Marom, Cabrique, Belide, Cades, Lahare, Mees, and the 2 Megerae, with their villani, gastinae and lands, for the servicium of 4 milites. If Ioscelinus should lose Toronum or Castrum Nouum by the judgement of the royal curia or if the agreement [pactiones] made between King Baldwin IV and domnus Henfredus iuvenis is fulfilled, Ioscelinus will have Maronum and the property that domnus Henfredus iuvenis had in exchange and any legitimate costs incurred in the rebuilding of the castles of Toronum and Castrum Nouum will be repaid. Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex VIIIus, with the agreement of his wife the lady Sibylla, eiusdem regni venerabilis regina, confirms under seal for comes Ioscelinus his senescalcus all the properties and revenues [hereditates et redditus] and all pledges, purchases and acquisitions that King Baldwin IV confirmed in charters. Guy confirms the purchase by Ioscelinus from the crown for 5000 besants of the casale called Cabor with its villani, gastinae and lands, owing the servicium of 1 miles and of a house in Acre that is attached to the feudum of Chabor. He absolves Ioscelinus from the execution of the terms of the will of domna Agnes comitissa, Sibylla’s mother, which Ioscelinus has fulfilled. He concedes the freedom in relation to all the sugar-cane [zucarum] Ioscelinus has or ought to have at his casale of Lanahia, and freedom in relation to all the sugar and sugar extract [mella], so that he and his heirs can freely keep and sell them in Acre, bring them in and take them out, and purchasers can carry them away. He assures Ioscelinus that he can appoint whoever he wants to be guardian of his lands and daughters, should he die before his daughters reach maturity [ad annos nubiles], although servicium will be rendered to the crown. At the request of King Richard I of England and in return for the service of Genoa in the siege of Acre and in the recovery of the kingdom of Jerusalem, Guy, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex VIIIus, grants the Genoese, represented by Morinus filius Rodoani de Platea Longa consul de comuni, who with other nobles had fought the Sarraceni in the siege of Acre, confirmation of all the rights they and all those living between Portovenere and Monaco were known to have had in the city of Acre before its conquest. He confirms their right to enter, reside in and leave with all their goods by land or sea without the payment of dues [drictura]. He gives frater Curaudus hospitalis Alemannorum preceptor and the brothers and sick of [the Hospital of St Mary of the Germans] the land in Acre on which their house and hospital [hospitale] is established. Femianus, his wife Dulcis and their son Iohannes, who claimed the land, renounced it in the presence of Guy and his curia, in exchange for another property. The Hospital gives Guy 500 besants and a horse, raised from its own alms funds. The land borders on the land of the brothers of St Thomas. It is situated between 2 stairs leading to a gate tower [turris perforata], as far as a strata publica that extends to the Gate of St Nicholas and belongs to the hospitale Alemmanorum, and then as far as a platea and curia and from the platea back to the city wall and along it as far as the stairs. The brothers may not build anything against the wall that might prevent men climbing the stairs in defence of the city.
