A dispute has arisen between the rustici of the royal casale called Thaerisibena and the rustici of the casale of Bethfella in the territory of Tyre, which belongs to St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat. The king’s rustici claim land with an olive grove [olivetum] that is a dependency of Bethfella. Baldwin, per dei gratiam in sancta Ierusalem Latinorum rex quartus, and his mother Melisende, eadem gratia eorundem regina, in a sealed judgement state that Guido abbas of St Mary and his monks should have the land and olive grove, together with a garden and other property which they own as part of the Casale Huberti de Pazi. Baldwin, per gratiam dei in sancta Hierusalem Latinorum rex quartus, at the request of Queen Melisende his mother, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant, confirming Melisende’s gift to the abbot Willelmus and the monks of the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat of a casale called Cafracos, situated not far from Ascar, with the exception of a particula already given to a turcopolus, on condition that Mass is solemnly celebrated by a priest for her benefit and that of her relations.
