Writing to the patriarch and chapter of the church of Antioch, Pope Honorius III recounts how, 50 years or more before, Patriarch Aimery of Antioch had reduced the number of canons in the church of Antioch from 18 to 12 or 13, in order to have the funds to strengthen the defence of the castle of Cursarium. Afterwards the number had increased, but now, at the request of the patriarch and chapter, the pope confirms a limitation to a total of 16 canons.Jul. 10. Lateran.
