text: May 25. Acre in the church of Saint Mark. Marcus Justinianus, Venetian bailo in Acre, and his counsellors Petrus Bricius and Johanes de Molino, acting on behalf of the Venetian commune in Acre, declare that they have received from Ugo Revel, the Hospitaller master, and his convent a house belonging to Hospital in Acre for the annual rent of 40 Saracen besants at the weight of Acre. It is bounded on the east by the houses that once belonged to Guillelmus de Nogan, on the west by the platea, where onions (cepe) are sold, where now the new Venetian wall is, on the south by the commune’s road where there is now one of the commune’s new gates, and to the north the houses of the wife of the late Pandulfus, which belonged to the son of Guillelmus de Nogan, where is the great road of the commune at the entrance gate to the new walls of the commune. The rent is assigned against the income from two stationes located near the platea once called the platea Longobardorum, which now belongs to the commune of Venice. The bounds of one of these: on the west the statio which used to belong to the lady Symona, wife of the late Pandulfus, but now Simon de Grecis has, on the west the statio of the knight Denis, to the south the said platea, to the north it abuts the statio which formerly belonged to Ugo de Castello and now belongs to the commune of Venice. The bounds of the other: to the east it abuts the statio of Johanes de Trecis, on the west the statio of the knight Denis, to the south it abuts the statio which formerly belonged to Ugo de Castello and now belongs to the commune of Venice, and to the north is the commune’s road before the parvis of the church of St. Mark. Should it happen that the rents are insufficient the commune will produce the money from another source, payable on the Feast of All Saints. The document is drawn up by John, the plebanus of Saint Mark of Acre and sealed with the seal [of the commune]. Witnesses: Marcus Justinianus, bajulus in Acre, Petrus Brissi and Johannes da Molino, consiliarii. I John, presbiter et plebanus of Saint Mark of Acre, notary, completed and confirmed it.
