text: End Dec. 1199 - Early Jan. 1200. Pope Innocent III writes to the archbishop of Tyre and the bishop of Sidon. A case was heard in Rome by 3 cardinals relating to a dispute over the church of Nefins, its tithes and 3 casalia, between the church of Tripoli, represented by S[eguinus] prior sancti Michaelis and A[imericus] canonicus Tripolitanus, and the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. Pope Celestine III had written to the patriarch of Jerusalem, ordering the archbishop of Nazareth and the abbas of the Mt of Olives to put the Hospitallers in possession of church of Nephin, its tithes and the 3 casalia. Innocent reverses that judgement in favour of the church of Tripoli. He orders the archbishop of Tyre and the bishop of Sidon to execute his judgement. End Dec. 1199 - Early Jan. 1200. text: Feb. 11. Lateran. The Prince-count of Antioch-Tripoli has appealed on legal grounds for a renewal of his case against the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem over the castle of Maraclea. This was first arbitrated by the Valaniensis episcopus and then delegated by the papacy to the archbishop of Tyre, bishop-elect of Sidon and the archidiaconus Sydoniensis. The pope now orders the patriarch of Jerusalem, the archbishop of Tyre and the bishop of Beirut to terminate the case. Feb. 11. Lateran. Pope Gregory IX draws attention to the reference made at the Holy See by the bishop of Acre, in dispute with frater Andreas de Fogia, the procurator of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, to the agreement between J. episcopus Acconensis and the magister and brothers of the Hospital of St John, arbitrated by Cardinal Pelagius of Albano and recognized by both parties. 2 articles in this agreement, regarding exemption from tithes on the casalia commonly called Broet and Coket, and on sugar cane, as opposed to wheat and barley, at the casale of Manuet need further definition. The pope orders the patriarch of Jerusalem, the archbishop of Tyre and the abbas Sancti Samuelis de Monte Gaudii Premonstratensis ordinis Jerosolimitane diocesis to decide on these issues. May 16.
