Clarembaudus de Noiers, who is unwell but of sound mind, addresses H. bishop of Auxerre, his mother Adeline, his wife Ada, his son Milo, his daughter Adeline and all Christians who read this letter. He makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of Arbonne and frater Stephanus de Corbolio. He gives a rent of 100 solidi from his land at Noiers. This he does with the agreement of the chapter of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and frater Ogerus hospitalis Iherosolimitani magnus preceptor. [234] With the agreement of his son Raimundus and his wife Sibilla principissa, Bohemond, Dei gratia princeps Antiochie, the son of Prince Raymond, confirms under seal the sale of a hereditas with its rights specified in a charter to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, represented by frater Aldebertus preceptor domus Hospitalis Antiochie, by his homines, called Theodorus and Theodorus. The church of S. Theodorus is part of the hereditas. Bohemond adds the gift to the Hospitaller commandery [domus] of Antioch of a rua, which is in his domain [dominium] and extends from the front of the commandery, near the house of dominus Petrus … as far as the rua that goes to the fons del Naquaire. text: Jan. 1-31. Gaufredus de Donjon sancte domus Hospitalis Christi pauperum magister Hospitalis with the unanimous assent of all the Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, including the chapter, makes a sealed grant, restoring to the church of Valenia [ecclesia Valaniensis] and its bishop Anterius the right to take all those tithes of the lordship of Margattum that it was accustomed to enjoy in the time of the late dominus Rainaldus, with some exceptions. The church will have full tithes from casalia and their produce, carragia and rents; half tithes on the returns of poultry, eggs and cheese; whole tithes on the returns from the funda, platea, dyeworks and other revenues of Margatum. Full tithes will also be paid on the revenues of mills, except for the Order’s milling; half tithes on produce sold from gardens in which the Order has worked with its own labour and and at its own expense, but if any garden be rented out, full tithes will be paid. Half tithes will be paid on oil, but if the olive groves are rented out whole tithes will be due. Half tithes will be paid on carrucae and vineyards worked directly by the Hospital. Whole tithes will be due from the port, as in the days of lord Rainald, on grape juice [must] and wine, sumach, almonds and figs, jars, pots and pitchers. 15 Antiochene besants a year will be paid in place of tithes on the oven, unless it needs to be repaired, when tithes will be reduced while it is out of use. On five feasts - Easter, Pentecost, the Nativity of St John the Baptist, the Assumption of St Mary and All Saints - the Suriani and Armeni outside the town [suburbii], who have donkeys, will bring 10 somae of myrtle [mirtus] to the church of Valenia, which will enjoy freedom in all things as in the days of dominus Reinaldus.
