He confirms donations made by Bohemond [of Taranto], Tancred and other princes and barones of Antioch. They include a house with a garden next to it, which is situated close by the church of St John Chrysostom in Antioch; a canuta in the vicus of the Amalfitans in Antioch; a domuncula with a garden in the vicus of St Paul in Antioch. He confirms the gift by Bohemond I of three casalia outside Antioch: Assis; Ursan; and Melessin. He also confirms the gifts of Casale Balilas in the territory of Harenc; Casale Churar in the territory of Aronia; Casale Cizemburc in the territory of Turbassella; a gastina before Tilium called Aganir; Casale Cadir; Casale Nubeirac; Casale Sarare in the land of Mamistra; Casale Muserac in the territory of Cafardan. The casale is surrounded by the casalia of Artha, Fardasie, Aldie, Kalodie, Arthaba, Beselechie and Burin. The gift is confirmed as an eleemosynary grant by Johannes de Bethzan and Hugo de Bethzan, the brothers of his deceased wife Euphemia, from whom he held the casale. The gift is also confirmed as an eleemosynary grant sealed by Domnus Galterius Cesariensis, in whose lordship [dominium et territorium] the casale is situated. text: Mar. 1 – Sept. 23. Jerusalem. In the royal palatium. Baldwin, dei gratia rex Ierusalem Latinorum secundus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He confirms under his seal everything given in the reigns of his predecessors to the Hospital. He confirms those gifts made during his reign, specifying the following. In the territory of Jerusalem, Gosfridus de Parentea gave 4 partes terre at a place called Beccafaba. Gosfridus also gave a garden with cisterns next to the Tower of David, with roads on either side, one of which runs to Bethlehem. Adam de Ramis gave a house with a cistern inside, situated in front of the house of Guido de Miliaco and next to the Gate of the Temple, from where the road goes to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. Witnesses of Adam’s gift were: Aschetinus vicecomes; Vgo de Ramis; Gosfridus de Acula; Alfanus; Siherius de Beritto; Porcellus; Rancoldus de Ponzo. Alanus Boccerius gave a house in Jerusalem, before the witnesses: Aschetinus vicecomes; Guerricus; Hanricus Burgundio. Bernardus de Tolosia and his wife Rufa gave a house in Jerusalem situated before the church of St Martin. Alfanus gave himself and all his property and houses in the piazza of the money-changers [platea nummulariorum] in the presence of the witnesses: Paganus Cesariensis electus, olim cancellarius tantum; Vgo comes Trescensis; Gosfridus de Parentea; Aschetinus vicecomes; Rodulfus camerarius; Rainaldus de Ponzo; Gosfridus Acula; Siherius de Beritto; Porcellus. In the territory of Acre, Barda Armenus and his wife, with the agreement of their children, gave their casale called Coketum. In the territory of Caesarea Gosfridus de Flaiaco, together with Johannes de Bethsam and his brother Vgo de Bethsam gave a casale called Calansue. G[ualterius] cognomento Granerius Cesaree et Sydonie Dei gratia dominus, together with his wife Juliana and with the consent of his barones, makes an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He confirms all the gifts and eleemosynary grants made by his father Eustachius, who gave: houses in Caesarea with two curtiles and freedom from taxation on sales and purchases; a casale outside Caesarea called Aldefie; houses with curtiles in Cacho; curtiles given by G., the lord’s vicecomes, and Alo, for which the lord of Caesarea had made an exchange; 4 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum at Cacho and 2 carrugae given by H. Lumbardus with the consent of Eustachius. Galterius has himself given 2 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum in Cafarsalem and a further 2 from the land [a principio terre] of Rambaldus, which is worked in Marescum on the road to the river. If that land fails the Hospital will be given up to 4 carrugae terrae ad serendum et garetandum of the better land to be found in Sabulone. He also gives the Hospital Calumzum. His charter is confirmed by: G. Granerius; domina Juliana; W. de S. text: Sept. 26. Jerusalem. In the Hospital of St John [in ipsa domo pauperum]. Balduinus Berutensis episcopus makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. He gives the Hospital a house in Jerusalem which he had been given to him by King Baldwin I. The house is to be held with full rights, except that Balduinus can lodge in it when he comes to Jerusalem. It is situated between the Hospital’s oven and mill. In return Balduinus is given by Rogerius Paganus, frater noster, a house in Beirut. The exchange is made in the presence of Balduinus.
