Acknowledging the argument put forward by the king that in submitting to the primacy of the pope the Armenian Church does not wish to be subject to another province, Pope Innocent III assures King Leon of Cilician Armenia that no Latin other than the pope or his legate can impose excommunication or interdict on him or his kingdom, although an exception is made for Latins resident in Cilicia.
