text: Jan. 28. Anagni. Pope Gregory IX recalls the efforts made over 10 years by the abbas et conventus monasterii Bellimontis, of the Cistercian Order, to recover the casale of Peregus, occupied by W. miles de Riveto. In spite of the interventions of the late Cardinal Pelagius of Albano, the papal legate, and the papacy, the case has not been resolved due to the difficulty of finding judge delegates. The abbey now has possession of the casale, but, although W. de Riveto and nearly all his family are dead, the case is not resolved. The pope orders the bishop of Tripoli, the bishop of Tortosa [Antaradensis episcopus] and the cantor Antaradensis to re-examine it. Jan. 28. Anagni. text: Oct. 9. Anagni. Odo de Monbeliardo regni Ierosolimitani comestabulus had appealed to the Holy See. The bishop of Paphos had demanded tithes of the poll tax [capitatio] levied on the casale of Tarsis in his diocese. Odo refused on the grounds that the late electi of Nicosia and Paphos, at that time papal legates, had decreed, with the agreement of King Aimery of Cyprus, that such a tithe should not be paid in Cyprus, which would follow the practice of the patriarchate of Jerusalem in this respect. This decision was confirmed by the Apostolic See. The bishop of Paphos had threatened Odo with excommunication.
