For the honour and utility of his church and of its canons in eadem Deo militantium, Evremarius Cesareę Palestinę archiepiscopus, gives under his seal the brothers of the church of the Holy Sepulchre the tithes of a casale called Deffeisse/Deffiesse, in order that these may benefit the Holy Sepulchre’s alms-giving with respect to the feeding and refreshment of the poor. text: Sept. 27 1130 - Aug 21 1131. Baldwin, dei gratia rex Iherusalem Latinorum secundus, had made a sealed eleemosynary grant to the church of the Holy Sepulchre, represented by Wilelmus prior and the canons. He had given a casale called Cafermelech in the territory of Nablus with all its lands and villani, except for 2 villani who had been transferred by Romanus de Podio to the casale of Betheflori. In return the canons of the Holy Sepulchre had surrendered their claim on 200 besants, which they had from the revenues [redditus] of Nablus. At the canons’ request Baldwin now restores the 2 rustici with their progeny and heirs, to the Holy Sepulchre and Petrus eiusdem prior. He does this in the presence and with the agreement of [Fulk] comes Andegavensis and Milissende his daughter. In the presence of Patriarch William [of Malines] of Jerusalem he orders Amelinus, his cancellarius, to write the charter and attach his lead seal. text: Jun. 25. Mabilia, a consoror of the church of the Holy Sepulchre, makes an eleemosynary grant, giving the canons of the Holy Sepulchre [dominis meis] her garden. She also leaves them her house on her death. The canons compensate her with 170 besants. They have built a wall round the garden and have spent 40 besants building a cistern there. They also give her for her lifetime a daily allowance of a loaf, half a litra of wine and a salver of cooked food, together with a piece of meat and the same drink as the canons on Sundays and Solemnities. text: Dec 25 1131 – Sept. 23 1132. Wilelmus de Buris, with the consent of Fulk, rex Francorum tertius, and of his nephews Radulfus de Ysis et Symon, makes an eleemosynary grant to the church of the Holy Sepulchre. He gives 2 casalia called Gebul and Helkar. Their lands stretch longitudinally from the mountains through the plain to the Jordan and latitudinally from the boundary between the lordship of Bethsan and and the territory of Tiberias to a cava, which is next to a casale called Huxenia, and extends in a straight line to the aforesaid mountain and river. He also gives the canons of the Holy Sepulchre the use of all his fisheries [piscariae] for 8 days each year. They may take any week in the period from Septuagesima to Easter, but if on any of those days the Sea [of Galilee] is turbulent they may choose another day to fish. He also gives them all the labour services [tota angaria et auxilium] of his own fisherman for one day a year. And he gives them the right to have a boat [navis] on the Sea of Galillee. King Fulk confirms this gift with his seal. text: 1130 – Aug. 31 1133. Bernardus Bituricensis and his wife Ahoys make an eleemosynary grant to the canons and church of the Holy Sepulchre. They give their house and whatever else they have, including a piece of land near the gate of St Stephen in Jerusalem, which they acquired in return for the payment of a census of 2 besants. They will remain in possession of the house and their other property for their lives. After their deaths a third part of the property is to pass to the canons, although if one of them survives a further third part can pass to the canons in return for support for the rest of the survivor’s life. A third part will go to their daughter and her heirs, if she marries, although it can be exchanged with the canons for 100 besants and if she dies childless it will also pass to the canons. Petrus prior Sancti Sepulchri takes Bernardus and Ahoys into confraternity, in recognition of which Bernardus and Ahoys will give the the church a justa of wine and 2 loaves three times a year: at Christmas, Easter and on the 15 July [Festum Jherusalem]. With the advice and consent of Patriarch William and Petrus prior, the canons have chosen Rainaldus, one of themselves, to be prior of Sancta Quarantena. He is to remain a canon of the Holy Sepulchre and will be subject to the prior and canons there. His successors will be appointed by the canons of the Holy Sepulchre. Rainaldus has the right to enlarge the priory and increase the size of the community at Sancta Quarantena. The deed is confirmed and sealed by Patriarch William.
