Dulcia, her husband Hugo de Lezinano and their daughter Alamanda make an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem at Mont Pèlerin, confirming a gift made during his lifetime to the Hospital by Dulcia’s brother Bertrandus Milo. The gift consists of houses on Mont Pèlerin. It is confirmed on condition that each year on the second day after the Feast of the Ascension the Hospitallers will celebrate Mass for the soul of Bertrandus. Dulcia will retain the houses during her lifetime, after which they will revert to the Hospital. Witnesses: Saramannus; Will…. (c.1168). With the agreement of his prelates and barones, Amalric, per dei gratiam in sancta civitate Ierusalem Latinorum rex quintus, confirms under seal his eleemosynary grant, to benefit especially the souls of his father, mother and brother King Baldwin [III], to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and Gibertus magister of Bilbais [Bulbesium], the possessions of its inhabitants, the inhabitants themselves, and as much of the cultivated and uncultivated land, extending from the neighbourhood of Bilbais towards Siria and the sea, that with Bilbais itself will return 150000 old besants [bizantii vetera] a year. But excluded from this gift will be all Christians, of whatever nation, whom Amalric has freed from their servile condition. text: Dec. 25 1168 - Dec. 24 1169. King Wladislas II of Bohemia records how in the first year of his reign he vowed to pilgrimage to Jerusalem. He joined the emperor Conrad in his expedition against the pagans, but was unable to complete the journey, although fired more and more by a desire to go to Jerusalem. When Raymundus, then magister Hospitalis Hierosolimitani, and other brothers heard of this, they sent Wladislas at once the keys to the castellum called Crat, situated on the borders with the pagans. The keys were delivered by frater Benedictus together with the offer to Wladislas that he and his companions should make use of Crat and its dependences as they wished. Knowing its good works, Wladislas makes an eleemosynary grant to the Hospital, giving it extensive properties in Bohemia. The witnesses are all from Bohemia. Dec. 25 1168 - Dec. 24 1169. To prevent the loss of the castles [castra] of Archas and Gibelacar, which have been destroyed by an earthquake, Amalric, dei gratia Ierosolimorum rex Latinorum quintus, Tripolitanum comitatum procurans, records under seal that he has given them to the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem and Gibertus venerabilis magister. The Hospitallers will restore them. Their possession of the castles, together with the servicia and hominium owed by homines in their domains, is guaranteed in the future. He gives the Hospitallers the right to enjoy the spoils of war gained from the Saraceni without any subtraction, unless he himself is present on campaign. If the count of Tripoli [Raymond III], who is a prisoner, should dispute these grants King Amalric will defend the Hospitallers. If the count is released from captivity King Amalric will ask him to confirm the gift. If he does not and the county reverts by hereditary right to the king, the grants will be confirmed and renewed. Amalric confirms all gifts previously made to the Order by the count and his predecessors.
