On one side of them is the house of the royal curia [domus curie regalis]. On the other is the house of Hugo de Calderaria. The entries to the houses face the platea next to the city fosse. He also gives all his military equipment [harnesium militare], in horses, arms, robes and other things, on condition that he has the use of these while he lives. He wishes after his death to be treated as a brother in funeral and burial. The deed is sealed, at his request, by Radulfus Acconensis episcopus. Any deferment of payment for 6 months and 20 days will lead to a fine of 1000 besants and a deferment of a year and 20 days will allow Iacobus or his heirs to repossess the property, while the other half of Maron will be occupied as a pledge until the Order’s debts are repaid. Should Maron revert to them, Iacobus or his heirs will pay the half-service owed for it. Should Maron be lost through warfare or any way that is not culpable, the rent will be decreased in accord with the decision of arbitrators.
