She gives Rodricus comes and the professed brothers of his Order [Montjoie] the turris puellarum in the city of Ascalon, a garden beside it, and 2 other towers on the walls of the city, situated between the turris puellarum and the church of St Mary, and another tower towards the sea on the other side of the turris puellarum. text: Jun. 1-30. Patriarch Amalric of Jerusalem makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to Petrus prior Dominici Sepulcri and his chapter, conceding jurisdiction [juriditio] over a vineyard that had belonged to Petrus de Sancto Jacobo, whose share in it the canons of the Holy Sepulchre had bought. The vineyard is bordered on the east and north by a vineyard belonging to the abbey of St Mary of the Latins. On the west is the royal highway [strata regia] that goes from the leprosary of St Lazarus to the lacus Legerii. On the south is the street [via] that goes from the church of St Stephen to the same highway. The grant is made by the patriarch on the conditions that when he dies, the canons will feed 13 poor persons and 13 clerics to sing psalms for his Requiem; that annually on the anniversary of his death 13 poor persons shall be fed; and that 2 candles, costing 1 besant, should be brought to the patriarchal chapel and lit at Michaelmas. He gives in feudum 300 Saracen besants, to be paid annually from the revenues of the Gate of David in 4 instalments: on the Feast of St John the Baptist, the Feast of St Remigius, Christmas and Easter. He gives 2 casalia in the territory of Nablus called Saffir and Kafarhone with their villani; 3 vineyards on the mountain called Abel, the first having a waterless cistern, the second including a cava made up of chalk [terra candida], and the third nearby; 24 modii of wheat, 24 modii of barley and 6 modii of vegetables, to be collected annually at the Gate of David at harvest time; 2 roddae of sugar de mazara from all the sugar cane plantations at Nablus, and every week 1 cudaria of sugar de mazara for every pertica of cultivated sugar cane for the sick Zaribel. He also gives freedom [franchisia] to enter and leave, buy and sell throughout the kingdom of Jerusalem and freedom from all jurisdiction [and dues]. They confirm the eleemosynary gifts of Mauricius Montis Regalis dominus to the Hospital. These are specified as: a casale in the territory of Mons Regalis called Benisalem with its villani on both sides of the river; in the vicus of Mons Regalis, Caissar filius Tamin with his heirs and possessions, and land which is situated between the vineyard of Seguinus and [that of] Gullelmus Hasin; a house in Mons Regalis; a casale called Canzil in the territory of Petra with its rustici and with a gastina called Hable which is adjacent to it; a house in Petra; land next to the vineyard that belonged to Johannes Castellanus and afterwards to the archbishop; a ship [navis] for transporting Hospitaller goods, freed from any duty [sine precio vel munere]. Rainaldus and Stephania confirm the Hospital’s possession of a small herb garden [ortus pro habendis herbis], previously given by Stephania. They also give partly cultivated land which dominus Tebaldus de Betun had held in the Vallis Riparie during his lifetime.
