Pons Tripolitanus episcopus, following his predecessor Heribertus and with the advice of Berengar, bishop of Orange and papal legate, gives Giraldus praepositus and the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem the tithe of all the land which Guillelmus Rostagni held and was possessed after him by Pontius de Medenes, from the castle called that of Gaucefredus de Agolt as far as Calamon, together with the parish church, with all parochial rights, including a baptistery, a cemetery, the oblations of the living and the dead, and all other churches within the bounds of that land. With the approval of Patriarch Arnulf and the barones of the kingdom, Baldwin, dei gratia Latinitatis Iherosolimorum rex, makes an eleemosynary grant, confirming the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat together with abbas Hugo in all its lands [in the city of Jerusalem]; and the pool of Siloam and the houses and gardens it has within the walls of Jerusalem. Baldwin confirms its possession of 4 carrucae of land at Jaffa and 2 carrucae at Acre and a casale called Aschar near Nablus. He also confirms the gifts made by others. Lambertus gave a casale called Soesme, situated above the river [Jordan] which is popularly called the river of the Devil, with the consent of Goscelinus princeps Tyberiadis, and Willelmus de Buris, who gave the casale to Lambertus. Barianus constabularius Ioppe gave land and vines in the territory of Jerusalem. Wido de Miliaco, on behalf of himself and his wife Helisabeth, made an eleemosynary grant of lands and vines in the territory of Jerusalem. Bishop Bernard of Nazareth gives the hospital of the abbey of St Mary of the Valley of Jehoshaphat the tithes of Legio and another tithe levied on a property of Gunfredus de Turri situated near Jerusalem. He grants the hospital the right to share with himself the episcopal tithe levied on all its goods in the diocese of Nazareth. This gift is confirmed by Patriarch Arnulf at the time when King Baldwin I built the castle of Saboach. Pons, comes Tripolitanus, makes a sealed eleemosynary grant to St Mary of the Latins of Jerusalem, confirming the gift made by Raymond [of St Gilles] of a bafumaria near Tripoli. The terms are now modified. Pons is given usufruct of the bafumaria by Raimundus abbas of St Mary in return for an annual rent of 20 besants, which is payable in those years in which use is made of the bafumeria.
