comments: [298] On 11 December 1213 Innocent had assured Countess Blanche of Champagne and her son Thibaut that he would confirm the judgement of Cardinal Robert of Courçon that Comes Henricus had ensured that his land would pass to his brother Thibaut should he not return from the Holy Land and that his marriage to the queen of Jerusalem had been illegitimate, as had been her previous marriage to Conradus marchio Montisferrati, who had removed her from her legitimate husband Unfredus de Toron.
