Two rankings from the same corpus: the religious and military institutions that entries name as beneficiaries, and the transaction types by which the Regesta classifies its documents.
This is the database’s own vocabulary, not a neutral census. The institution field is filled where an entry concerns a known house; entries about individuals, or about parties outside that scheme, are simply absent from the left-hand chart. An entry may also carry more than one transaction type, so the type counts sum to more than the number of entries.
Why there is no map. These are institutions, not located places, and the database holds no coordinates for them. A map would require geocoding each house — a genuine piece of research, not a rendering choice — so this ranking stands in its place.
